Natural Makeup For Natural Beauty

Usually when we think of natural beauty we think of someone without makeup. Did you know that your natural beauty can be enhanced by using natural beauty products? That is: makeup and cosmetic products that are 100% natural and organic. Unfortunately most of the makeup that women wear is full of harmful toxins and chemicals. Makeup products and skincare products containing these actually can do more to harm the skin than enhance natural beauty.

You have probably heard it said that “…if looks could kill…”. For many years women have been led to believe that in order to look beautiful they have to wear makeup. Most large cosmetic companies market their products so that you feel that you can’t live without them. Who of us hasn’t seen a commercial and thought: “I would like to look like that”. This leads many women to put beauty first rather than health. Of course we all want to fit in and be accepted – but at what cost. Just think how much the makeup industry affects our thinking: How many films have you seen when the actress awakes in the morning without any makeup on? Probably not very many. So women start thinking that they have to look like this. Then their partners also start thinking the same. Then there is the other extreme. The terms ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ still have a stigma attached to them, and so many think that buying natural organic makeup products is only something for hippies.

Beauty though is all relative. You could say that it is skin-deep. Fashions also change. For example, what was fashionable in the 80′s would look pretty ridiculous in today. It used to be the fashion that women would have white skin – this showed that they were rich and didn’t have to spend a lot of time outdoors. Now the fashion is to have a tanned skin, which is to show the same – we’ve got a lot of money for recreation and exotic holidays. We have been led to believe that a tanned skin is a healthy skin. Actually that could not be further from the truth. A tanned skin is actually a damaged skin.

Culture also plays a part in what is acceptable and what is not. Coco Channel is quoted as saying: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” For example in Burma is desirable for women to wear neck rings to elongate their necks. It is also reported that tourism is to blame for this because they are a popular attraction for tourists. In China feet biding used to be popular. (This is a practice whereby children’s feet are bound to prevent further growth). The results were deformed feet. So we have to ask ourselves – how much of our thinking is being dictated by the media, culture and our peers? If you lived in China in the late 1800′s would you have had your children feet bound? Even if it meant you being different and being rejected as a ‘poor person’ or someone of a ‘lower social class’?

During the last few years many studies have been carried out which show that most of the commercially available makeup products on the market contain dangerous levels of toxic chemicals and other irritants. Just take a look at the ingredients of any makeup or skincare product. How much of is sounds natural and how much of sound like you need a degree in chemistry to understand it? Even if you could understand everything that is listed under ingredients the cosmetic industry still hide toxic ingredients behind innocent sounding labels. For example: ‘scent’. Seems harmless enough, but the ‘scent’ could contain hundreds of different chemical combinations. Sometimes you have to wonder if the makeup products have been produced for putting on your skin or cleaning your car engine.

It’s also worth noting that many of the commercially available makeup products actually cause skin irritations and allergies. Even some of the so-called cures for eczema or acne actually aggravate the skin and can make it worse.

Natural organic products are manufactured in such a way that they do not cause harm to humans or animals. They are biodegradable these organic and natural products are great for the environment as well.

By using natural organic makeup you will enhance your appearance and at the same time actually care for the health of your body and skin. In the long term, using natural organic makeup and skin care products will maintain a healthy balance in your body thereby improving your natural beauty and reducing the need for using too much cosmetics.

How is this so? Let’s examine one example. Did you know that drinking enough water moisturizes your skin? It also has many other ‘side-effects’, it keeps us healthier, improves metabolism, reduces headaches, and if we talk about makeup products, reduces the need to use so much moisturizer. All from something that comes free out the faucet. Think about this: whatever we put on our skin is absorbed by our body. Did you ever wonder where the skin cream went after you applied it? Yes, into our body and some of it is even metabolizes by the internal organs. If you use only products that are organic and contain natural ingredients you will help to keep your skin healthy.

Natural beauty will help you look beautiful naturally. Don’t risk your health for the sake of fashion. It’s been done in the past and many women are still paying the price. What will be the cost of using makeup products that are full of toxic chemicals? Already studies are showing that some of these chemicals are turning up in different cancers. While a definite link has to be proved, it is alarming that cancers seem to be on the rise the more we are using chemicals.

Natural makeup products are widely available and by using them you will not have ‘looks to die for’. They are just as effective as their toxic counterparts – but without the health risks. Remember also to care for you health by what you eat. You naturally look more beautiful when you are in good health and natural makeup product will enhance your natural beauty.

The Goods on Mineral Makeup

Although some may think that mineral makeup is fairly new in the market, it really isn’t. It actually made its official debut in the 1970s. It was defined as mineral makeup because its ingredients were harvested naturally from the earth.

Today, its reemergence is more popular than ever. One major reason is that consumers may not want to use traditional makeup which often has traces of preservatives, perfumes, oils and chemicals. Regarded manufacturers have removed these “elements” which have in turn reduced skin irritations for many.

It’s important to point out that not all mineral makeup products are the same. So, when choosing one, please research that the product does not have synthetic ingredients such as fillers and paraben preservatives.

Common ingredients found in this makeup include:

Titanium Dioxide: offers a natural sunscreen
Mica: offers a natural glow and texture to skin
Zinc Oxide: inhibits skin inflammation
Pure Pigments: gives makeup its natural tone and color

Another ingredient commonly found is clay. The benefit of this ingredient is twofold: like a sponge, it soaks up extra oil from the skin while creating a velvety consistency to the makeup.

Mineral makeup, which offers full coverage, can be found in an array of options such as foundations, shadows, concealers, bronzers and blushes, and more.

While a number of products come in a liquid and pressed powered forms, some consumers really do enjoy the loose powder blushes and foundations. With a cosmetic brush, consumers effortlessly apply the minerals onto the skin.

Following an application, a particular light spray is often recommended by the manufacturer to set the makeup.
Fans of this makeup choose it over traditional options because they claim it’s better for their skin. Some believe it doesn’t clog their pores.

For those with mature skin, this product seems to be a nice alternative because it doesn’t highlight fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also long lasting and convenient for women on the go.

Research has also shown that compared to traditional cosmetics, mineral makeup offers a longer shelf life.
Premier manufacturers also infuse antioxidants into their formulas such as green tea and vitamins A, C, E, and/or K.

Additionally, they may also have UVA/UVB Sun Protection Factor in them, as well.

Skin care professionals still agree, though, that it’s always a good idea to apply a sunscreen even underneath quality SPF makeup to ensure maximum sun protection to ward off damage.

Beauty Tips – Choosing Make Up Brushes

With so much emphasis on looks, it’s no wonder that every woman today is getting her hands on any substance that has established itself as a beauty product. While I have no qualms with looking good, I am however concerned about how many go about this exercise.

Its like I always say, for one to get a flawless and professional make up one must be equipped with the right tools; and what better investment to make than investing in good and quality make up brushes.

Choosing the right quality of brush ensures that you will enjoy a flamboyant and glowing appearance. However, it has been my experience that most people tend to be confused with the hundreds of brushes in the market. So how do you know which one is the best for you?

It all depends on your taste. If you prefer to use chemical based make up then that is up to you. However, with the growing acceptance of a more natural way of life, many are now opting for mineral make up instead. With this change has also come the introduction of new brushes that are suitable for mineral make up application.

By far the best place to buy these brushes is from companies that have a reputation for producing mineral make up and cosmetics. These companies use good quality materials in order to maintain their reputation while at the same time have been known to test their brushes for long term use and make the necessary changes if they find their product to be wanting in one aspect or another.

One of the most important things to examine is the hair in the brush. The sable, mink and squirrel brushes are usually the best although they cost quite a bit. If perhaps for one reason or another, these are not suitable for you, then there are other pocket friendly options that range from pony hair, goat and even human hair.

When choosing powder brushes; avoid purchasing the big brushes for powder as this may make it harder to get the powder into the areas you need. The same also applies to blush brushes.

Always choose a lip brush that has fine bristles and a straight edge. For those who prefer adorning themselves with lip line, then I recommend them to choose a small lip brush with a pointed tip.

Good eyeliner brushes come with long tapered bristles and have very pointy ends. Not only is this design effective in getting to the base of the eyelashes but is also suitable for creating a very subtle and natural line.

Test for durability before you make any purchases. Brushes made of natural bristles tend to easily lose the bristles with use. To ensure that the brush is strong enough, pull the bristles gently. If they are easily uprooted, then abandon that brand and choose another.

I can never say this enough – not all make up brushes are equal. Quality, not quantity is the rule. The quality is always the difference between a bad make up application and a good one.

Save Your Sisters – From Toxic Cosmetics

Over the course of one year, through the application of cosmetics, the average North American woman absorbs the equivalent of 5 pounds of toxins. Everyday products such as shampoo, conditioners, hair gels, hair sprays, soaps, shower gels, body wash, face cleanser, toners, moisturizers, toothpaste, body lotions, hair removal products, deodorants, nail polish, eye liner, mascara, foundation, blush, lip balms and lipsticks all contribute to the toxic effect. Do the math: a 50 year old woman has over the course of her life absorbed approximately 200 pounds of toxins (I’m taking off 10 years, hopefully as a child she didn’t wear makeup.) The very thought of this should make everyone seriously look at what they are putting on their skin.

Just how toxic are these chemicals? Parabens found in makeup and moisturizers have developmental & reproductive toxicity and cause endocrine disruption, allergies and organ toxicity. Ethylene Oxide and 1, 4-Dioxane (found in moisturizing creams) cause organ system toxicity and are skin, eye and lung irritants. Retinol (vitamin A) found in anti-aging products causes biochemical or cellular level changes. Octinoxate, found in face powders and blush, causes endocrine disruption and allergies. The list goes on and on.

In the past decade, a crop of so called “natural” products have flooded the market. Are these any safer? Products containing the words “Natural”, “Essence of”, “Botanical” and even “Organic” do not mean that the product is safe. These are key words that marketing people use to legitimize the product. Don’t be fooled. As they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Read the labels and research the ingredients. I know you’ve heard this sermon before and I’ve heard all the excuses why this is impossible. Well, here’s some good news. Someone else has done all the work for you – all you need to do is log in. Health Canada offers alerts on cosmetic products that contain unacceptable levels of toxic chemicals, and the Environmental Working Group in the US sponsors two excellent sites: The Compact for Safe Cosmetics and Skin Deep – a data base that rates hundreds of products for safety. Another great resource is a book called No More Dirty Looks by Siobhan O’Connor and Alexandra Spunt. Kudos to those two girls for really digging deep to expose nasty chemicals in personal care products.

These resources have reached thousands of women and helped them make healthy safe choices, but there are millions more who don’t know they are literally poisoning themselves. Become an advocate and spread the word. If every woman who reads this article tells 10 women, and they tell 10 women… maybe we can save our sisters.

Makeup for Deep-Set Eyes

If you’ve got deep set eyes, you can’t apply makeup “traditionally.” That is, everything you see and read about how to place makeup on your eyes are for those with a more standard eye shape. So how do you apply makeup for deep set eyes?

There is one thing to remember: the crazy thing about makeup is it is supposed to accent what you do have and create what you don’t have! All this is an effort to make you look more “normal” – whatever that might be!
Canadian health care mall twitter
How do you know if you have deep set eyes? It is actually the easiest eye characteristic to define. Your eye is set back deeper into your eye socket. That means the brow bone extends further out and is more prominent. Some people refer to this eye shape as “hidden eyes” because the brow bone is such a strong feature, your eye is overshadowed by it.

If you’re still not sure if you have deep set eyes, take a look at others and that will help you. Some famous people who have deep set eyes include Cameron Diaz, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Katie Couric.

If you want to make your deep set eyes look incredible, you will need to bring them forward so they are no longer hidden by your brow bone.

Here are the best tips on how to apply makeup for deep set eyes:

1. Use a highlight shade to the eyelid and the crease. This will lighten that area and help bring the eye forward.

2. Use a midtone shade just above the crease and up towards the browbone. This darker color will help push the prominent brow bone back.

3. Use a contour shade, usually the darkest color, on the outer corner of the upper lash line. Sweep it to the outer corner of the browbone, which helps further to push this area back to help reveal your eyes.

4. If you want extra definition to those deep set eyes, use the contour shade underneath the lower lash line.

5. As you use mascara, use more of it in the outer corners of your eye. If you go heavy on the mascara or the false eyelashes in the central part of your eye, you will cover up what you tried to highlight and bring out. By keeping the mascara to the outer portion of your eye, you help open up and bring out your eyes.

If you follow these few tips to place your makeup on your deep-set eye correctly, you will “wow” people with your phenomenal peepers.

Makeup Foundation, The Below the Surface Secret to Perfection

This time I will teach you how to choose and apply the perfect makeup foundation. Let me assure you something, you do not need expensive surgeries to cover those imperfections that we all have and we all want to make disappear. I will give you my secret to accomplish that task without emptying your pockets.

Like we all know, everything starts with the correct and perfect makeup foundation. In a prior article on makeup in general, I talked briefly about makeup foundation and its importance. Now, let me elaborate. Makeup foundation is an amazing secret that makes our skin look naturally flawless, smooth and with a healthy glow. The tone of your makeup foundation completely depends on your skin, and when you have a good regime of maintenance, reparation and prevention system (skin care regimen and the subject of another of my informative articles) you will notice that foundation is not as necessary which means that you can go straight to a light dusting of powder. Until we get you there though, there are many types of makeup foundations, and is important to choose the one that best adapt to your skin tone and skin type so its looks natural. Also there are foundations that have luminescence with is light reflecting qualities creating a glowing, refine look; creating a more youthful look. When you choose the correct and perfect makeup foundation I guarantee your makeup will stay on longer and look its best.

Technology has given us many forms of foundations with multiple consistencies such as stick, liquid, crème, tinted moisturizer, tinted face balm, moisturizer compact, mineral powder and mousse. The stick form is neatly packed crème foundation and concealer in one, best for normal to dry skin. Liquid form is the most popular, and it can be formulated to different types of skin. Crème form is smooth and creamy, specifically formulated for dry to normal complexions. Mousse form is actually a crème foundation that comes in a jar and is of whipped consistency. It is perfect for mature skin because it does not accumulate in fine lines, and instead of sitting on your skin it tends to sink in to it giving you skin a natural appearance instead of the cakey look. Tinted moisturizer is perfect for summer time because is very light and gives sheer light weight coverage. Tinted face balm gives skin a dewy finish and is formulated for extra dry skin because it adds hydration to the skin. Moisturizing compact provide medium to full coverage for dry to extra dry skins. Mineral powder is best for oily to very oily skin and there is a warning: oily skin tends to change the shade of the powder.

Now it is time to choose the right shade. The most important aspect at the time to choose a shade is that it has to blend well into your skin, for nobody wants a cakey look. Choose a makeup foundation that is yellow base, as just about 1% of people is pink base (basically people that get sunburn even in the shade). Makeup foundation should only even out your skin tone; therefore, you should try many shades or ask a person that knows about makeup to help you choose the correct one. Many companies have shades cards that will give you an idea of your shade. Is very important for the perfect makeup to have an even skin tone, and that is why I recommend to double check the shade of your makeup foundation on your forehead, for many women tend to have darker skin around that area. I also suggest choosing a shade during the day, because it helps you to select one that better blends with your skin. Never try makeup foundation on the arms or other areas, as your face is rarely the same color of the rest of your body. Some skins get darker during the summer or when on vacation as a natural response to sun exposure. Keep a darker shade on hand so you can blend it when you are between shades or use it alone when your skin gets darker.

Before applying your foundation use a good primer and concealer to cover imperfections like red spots or blemishes. Begin applying the foundation on the nose using a small amount; blend it upward toward the hairline. You can apply it all over, or just where you need it and press it to your face with your fingers to fully blend.

Times have change and there are foundations made for those with combination skin. These new foundations are made with silica beads that soak up oil and lecithin that hydrates skin. Moisturizers and oil control lotions can be applied on the skin before you apply your make up. There are primers and concealer that will help you to create the perfect skin tone and will help you minimize dilated pores. Also there are primers to give more light to tired eyes, to cover marks on skin and blemish skin. The bottom line is you have everything you need to create the perfect canvas for the perfect makeup.
